Journal entry by Lexie Saucedo

Wow I completed my second to last chemo infusion this week! I’m so excited to be so close to finishing! My oncologist informed me that I will complete one more PET scan In January to confirm that everything looks good. He will then have me do labs, CT scans, and follow ups every three months in the first year following chemo, and every 6 months the second year (recurrence is highest during the first two years). I feel so comfortable that they will be keeping a close eye on me afterwards… that really helps put me at ease. I will also have one more surgery at some point to have my port taken out. I’m just trying to push through and finish strong!
We’ve just run into a slight bump in the road and both Brandon and I have contracted Covid. They started me on treatment for that right away (Paxlovid— 3 pills in the morning, 3 at night for 5 days). They prescribed me a couple other medicines to help with the symptoms as well because there are many drug interactions with my chemo medications.  Due to my immune system being so compromised, that means I could have it and be contagious longer than a normal person, so I will have to quarantine for 10 days instead of just 5… UNLESS I test negative before that (they recommend I take home tests daily starting at day 6). Although this is really scary to face, I’m trying to keep my mindset strong to get through this and hopefully not miss Christmas with my babies and family. 💔 I will have telehealth appointments every two days and will keep you all updated. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers and sending all the love.
