Levi’s Story

Site created on July 16, 2018

June 29th 2018.....Levi was at a dead stop on hwy 60 with his left blinker on, waiting for a dump truck coming from opposite direction so he could turn into his boss' driveway. Lady behind him was "distracted" & hit him at 60 mph. That pushed him into oncoming traffic & he watched out passenger window as dump truck hit him going probably 60 mph as well.
His seatbelt saved his life but broke his collarbone. The floor of the truck buckled up which broke the fibula (one of the shin bones) in his left leg & pushed the shifter into his right leg which broke the femur bone (thigh) in his right leg.

There is no doubt in my mind that he was wrapped tightly in angels wings. There is no other reason that he doesn't have any more injuries or isn't dead.

Levi was air lifted to St. Mary's in Rochester, MN and is undergoing many surgeries and more to come.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Karla Deutschmann

It's been a very busy cpl days.  Levi came home Thursday night  July 19th.  It's been a big adjustment learning a new routine & way of moving around. On Saturday, using a waljer,  he was able to walk about 25 feet from the bed to the couch, sat there for a couple hours, & walked back to bed. He has a special attachment on the walker so that he can use it with only 1 arm. He still needs help getting from a sitting position to a standing position as he doesn't have enough strength in the proper muscles required to do that on his own. Sunday he walked about 35 feet to the bathroom with the walker, took a shower, & walked back to bed. Things we take for granted, like taking a shower, are very strenuous & tiring for him. Especially since he can't use his left arm at all due to the excruciating pain in his collarbone.  He needs help getting undressed, into the shower, washing his back, right arm, & legs from knee down, getting out of shower & getting dressed. He has always been SO independent & he hates that he needs help.  He has an appointment in Rochester at 8 am on Thursday, July 26th. The doctors will check the scab on his shoulder & if enough of it is gone, then he will go straight to surgery on his collarbone.  Until he gets that surgery, his healing & rehab process is dramatically slowed & restricted. Please pray for him that the scab from the seatbelt has healed enough so he can get the much needed collarbone surgery on Thursday.
The benefit is scheduled for Saturday, August 11th at 5pm at the Madison Lake American Legion.
