Levi’s Story

Site created on July 28, 2023

We are using Caring Bridge to keep family and friends updated in one place.  On 07/22/23 Levi began having stroke symptoms and was rushed to the ER.   MRI scans showed he had been having multiple mini strokes throughout his brain.   He was admitted to Sanford Pediatric ICU and underwent a cerebral angiogram procedure that confirmed a diagnosis of Moyamoya Disease.  This is a rare brain disease that is caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain which interfere with blood and oxygen flow to the brain which causes the strokes.  This is a lifelong disease he will be battling.  He has undergone two cerebral bypass surgeries in less than a week to help correct the blood flow to his brain.  This is just the beginning of his long road of recovery.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement during Levi's battle with Moyamoya Disease. Thank you for visiting.

Levi has an exciting opportunity to help share his story and be a part of the Sanford Cares For Kids Radiothon tomorrow January 26th, 2024.  Our family was nominated by Sanford staff to be interviewed and share Levi's story of battling Moyamoya disease and what his care was like at the Sanford Childrens Hospital.  It is their biggest fundraiser of the year!  It helps support things like music therapy, child life specialists and Cullys Cabin that Levi enjoyed going to during his hospital stays.  Tune into these radio stations and it will also be shared on their websites.
