Levi’s Story

Site created on November 7, 2021

Levi had been experiencing severe headaches on and off since Halloween. Because they were progressively getting worse and included vomiting and writhing in pain, the doctor scheduled him for an MRI. We found out November 6 that Levi has a brain tumor in the left middle of his brain. He had brain surgery to remove the tumor on Monday, November 15. On the day of Levi's surgery, hundreds of people prayed for him, covering the entire surgery in prayer. The doctor completely removed a golf-ball-sized low grade neuroepithelial tumor. We were grateful to learn the molecular results on January 13 that the tumor is the lowest grade and has a low risk for regrowth. Praise Jesus! Thank you for all your cards of encouragement, gifts and meals and for your prayers for healing, hope and for God to carry us through. He has! We are so grateful for amazing doctors and hospital staff at Children's Hospital, our supportive community of family and friends and our strong faith that has sustained us. We are thankful for a happy and healthy Levi!

Levi had his first follow up MRI yesterday, and we met with his oncologist Dr. Bendel today at Children's Hospital. All scans are clear! We are overjoyed and thank Jesus:)! His next MRI will be in November and then yearly for two years, followed by two every other year until he is 18 years old. It is likely that the tumor WILL NOT come back but we are checking just to be safe. Here is a side-by-side of Levi's brain with the tumor and now. Levi is excited his surgeon approved him to go on his class field trip skiing at Hyland Hills next week and then to resume ice skating, sledding, recess and gym in mid-February. We are incredibly thankful for your prayers and support and for God's faithfulness to us throughout this trial.

"I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds." Psalm 9:1
