Hair Loss and Beauty

I started my day in the shower washing my hair to find a solid chunk of hair in my hand like it was a hair extension. As I rinsed out the shampoo many more came out like that. I knew this was coming but wasn't expecting it so soon. The doc told me I'd start having hair loss after the second or third treatment but I've only had one and that was exactly two weeks ago. No matter that I've been preparing for it mentally, it was still disturbing. Shakily, I drove to a restorative (Iyengar) yoga class. I started the class squeezing back the tears, but by the end of the class I was smiling and relaxed. Yay for yoga and its healing power! I continued a full day and eve of quality time with friends and self care so I nearly forgot about this morning's hair scare. I can do this!

The next day I went to pick up the wigs that my hairdresser buddy cut/styled for me. I had so much fun wearing the long hair wig that I kept it on the rest of the day. It really lightened my spirit and it was fun to have long hair. So I went from dreading the loss of my hair to looking forward to being able to wear the wig.

Cancer and Skin Care and Beauty Aids:
I used to work in the cosmetics industry and know that even the great brands of skin care and make up can be full of toxic chemicals and heavy metals. Now that I'm in "glitter" treatment I'm making a great effort to avoid any carcinogens in my life-- I gave away all the cleaning supplies that weren't natural, I've edited my diet and the way foods are cooked, and re-evaluated all my toiletries and cosmetics. I'm trying to replace the essential items with natural items.

What brands of natural make up do you like??

I wanted to share a few great resources that my friend Eve turned me on to.

EWG's Skin Deep Cosmetics Database - plug in the name of any product and check their rating. I'm looking for ratings of 2 or under

Beauty Counter is an excellent online retailer of natural beauty products:

I'll be looking for more natural glitter products to wear to the glitter lounge!
