Leonard “LJ”’s Story

Site created on January 7, 2022

On January 5th LJ was taken to the hospital via ambulance with deathly low oxygen levels.

He had been fighting Covid for a week with only complaints of a migraine and nausea -Annoyed that he had to miss work.

After being in the ICU for a couple hours they could not get his oxygen levels in a safe place and went with the safest option of putting him on a ventilator.

His scans showed that his lungs are very inflamed, with only a couple small pockets for air.

He will be sedated for 2/3 weeks and was given a 60% chance of survival.

Newest Update

Here’s to my final post 🍻 “clink!”

There’s lots of pictures attached to this long post- you’ll have to read all the way to the end to understand them. ;)

✅ Since the last update LJ was cleared by his doctor to go back to work! 🙌🏻  3 half days, then full time next week, assuming all goes well, starting today! And man was he so happy to get to go to work again- I’m hoping and praying everything goes smoothly for him as he adjusts back in to the swing of things. 🙏🏻

🚙 Last week LJ and I took a mini vacation/road trip to MI, WI, and ended in Duluth.
 It was incredibly refreshing to get away and reconnect after all that has happened in these last 3 months. ☺️ Riding shotgun with him is something I’ll never take for granted again. ❤️‍🩹

🖋On our way home we stopped and got tattoos! -Many of you have heard the story behind them, but for those of you that haven’t- I wanted to share this incredible testimony with you:

It happened on Wednesday, January 12th. LJ had been in the ICU for a full week, and although I posted there was a 60% chance of survival, I came to understand that it was actually much, much less than that- the doctors were shocked he even made it through the first night.
That evening I went to church to bring my boys to AWANA and opted out of helping with youth group to just sit in my van. There I cried and prayed;
🙏🏻 I told God that I knew he could see that no matter what he chose to do with my husbands life I believed he holds the future and knows what’s best, even when it doesn’t make sense to me.
 I told God that I didn’t need him to reach down and touch LJ- He is so powerful all he would need to do is breathe and LJ could be healed. 🌬 And I petitioned to God —if He was able to fit keeping LJ here on earth within his will for us— to enable him to stay. I journaled a prayer that ended “..breathe your breath of life. Show us your mighty deeds!” 🙏🏻
📖 I then picked up my Bible to read Psalms (because David is far better at complaining than I am! 😆) and when I opened my Bible I was in Ezekiel, however, instead of flipping back a few books to get to Psalms, I found my tear-filled eyes drawn to my highlights from years ago “.. then you shall know I am the Lord..”.
Again and again that phrase was highlighted. I kept reading the next one and the next one.
18x (LJ’s special number…a coincidence? 🤔) I read that phrase as I flipped to the next page, and then the next.
when I flipped the page a third time- I saw written in the margin (from many years ago) “It is not for your sake I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name.” And on the adjacent page a doodle from years ago said,

I will cause breath to enter you.”

I found out later, that on that same night, our Chiropractor had been praying for us and had a vision - seeing God blowing breath into LJ.👀🌬

👆🏻We are- beyond the shadow of a doubt- convinced that LJ truly was saved by God.
Our God is the Lord and there is no other.
 He heard our prayers and found it within His will to miraculously breath life. 🙌🏻 Praise the Lord! He only gets the glory!

🤍🤍 Thank you- from the depths of our hearts for all your prayers, love, concern, and support for us through this!  🤍🤍
We are blown away, over and over again, by the incredible generosity and kindness you have all lavished on us. It made such a huge impact on us and we will never have the opportunity to properly thank each and every one of you the way that we ought to! ❤️💌

Blessings and much love to you all! 😘

The Lord is my strengthand my shield;
    my heart trusts in him, and he helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
    and with my song I praise him.
