Newest Update

Journal entry by Taylor Kaufman

It has been a while since I have posted on here but I wanted to give everyone an update on Leo since a lot of you do not have Levi or I on Facebook.

Leo was able to come home a day after Mother’s Day on May 10th and surprise his family! Since being home, he has had many follow up appointments. Leo no longer needs to have eye exams in Cedar Rapids and will now see an eye doctor periodically for follow ups. Leo had a routine hip ultrasound to make sure his hip sockets and bones were growing correctly due to him being a breech baby and a csection. Everything looked great on that so we checked that appointment off our list! Leo’s current appointments are for check ups with his pediatrician (he currently weighs 11 lbs as of Friday 🤩) and he is seeing a pediatric urologist to have his circumcision done again.

We met with the pediatric urologist on Friday the 18th and the doctor let us know that Leo would need to be put under anesthesia to have the surgery. The doctor explained that since Leo’s circumcision has almost completely closed, he will need this surgery as soon as possible to make sure urine does not get trapped under the skin and cause bigger problems. The doctor also explained that when Leo was born, his skin didn’t adhere to his fat pad so that is what caused his circumcision to grow back over. The surgery will be 1-1.5 hours long and Leo will stay the night in the hospital to be monitored after surgery. Leo’s surgery will either be this Friday or sometime next week.
Other than dealing with his circumcision, Leo has been doing very well at home! ❤️

I am going to post some updated pictures of Leo for everyone to see. ❤️
