Newest Update

Journal entry by Rachel Forman

Update…likely the final update, Day 183, Day 176 Post-OP, 4/11/2023…

Today, Tuesday April 11, marks six months since our Sweet Lee was in a near fatal motor vehicle accident suffering critical injuries outside of La Paz, Mexico. He is lucky to be alive and he is lucky to be recovered and in essence still healing from the injuries, multiple surgeries and all that comes with such a personal calamity. There is no doubt that Lee’s determination and positive attitude, in combination with the incredible prayers and positive healing vibes from all of you GREATLY influenced his MIRACULOUS path.

We are full of life and filled with immense gratitude!

Notable Updates:

Lee has been back at work…seeing patients and participating in running the business of SDSM since early January.

Lee has no lingering cognitive or physical health issues from his injuries.

Lee is very active, engaging in workouts, walking, hiking, golf and pickle ball.

Lee is enjoying foods of all kinds and textures and he is at a healthy weight.

We enjoyed our first trip (since his accident) traveling to Australia to visit our daughter, Olivia,  who is studying abroad this semester. Lee was worried about how his facial reconstruction and the 12 plus titanium plates would endure flying 15 hours at elevation, not to mention whether he would set off any metal detector alarms at the airport. We are happy to report that there were no issues or discomfort. Lee even enjoyed snorkeling part of the Great Barrier Reef with relative ease, a favorite pastime, but certainly not an expected slam dunk given his injuries.

Lee has several six month follow up appointments in the next two weeks and we expect all to continue to be moving in the right direction.

Lee is solid, he is my rock and he is our hero!

Lee wrote the sweetest message in his Valentine card to me. I still have it on my nightstand and read it most everyday.

In part, he wrote this:

My Dearest Stacy,

I can not begin to thank you for all that you have done for me this year. You nursed me back to health without hesitation. You kept our family and home together while I was incapacitated. Thank you my Valentine, from the bottom of my heart. I love you as much and more since the day we were married!

Happy V-day! Love, Lee

This day, a sixth month mark since his accident and recovery, also happens to be my birthday! I couldn’t ask for a better birthday present…My Sweet Lee is alive and well.

Lee and I wish to express our most sincere THANK YOU for all of your well wishes and abounding love and support. We are truly blessed to have such an incredible community of family, friends and colleagues.
