My Journey ….

The adventure began about 10 years ago when I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Over the next 8 years, I underwent many treatments and cyst removals every three months. Then, almost 2 years ago, one of the little buggers decided he wanted out and worked his way through the bladder wall. My bladder was removed and I thought all was fine….until 2 months ago. A lymph node looked suspicious. A needle biopsy showed it to be malignant. Six weeks ago I began chemo treatments. Aside from the first one which sent me to the hospital, all is going well.
Jeff or I will, periodically, post journal entries in an attempt to keep family and friends apprised of what is happening on my journey to recovery.

Journal entry by Chad McNiesh

The last few days have been tough as we process Mom’s passing and make plans to celebrate her life.  As this will unfortunately be the last update, we want to thank you all so much for your thoughts, prayers, stories and kind messages through this season.  You have truly blessed us all with your love for Lee.  Below is the obituary which can also be found here.  May the Lord bless you all!  Love Jeff, Chad, Dave, Lisa and Lee C.

Lee McNiesh Obituary

Lee McNiesh (nee West), age 76, of Arden Hills, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2024. Born in Pomona, California on November 11, 1947, to Richard and Ann West. In 1970, Lee decided to move to Minnesota where she remained for the rest of her life. In 1973, Lee married her true love, Jeffrey McNiesh and together they welcomed two sons, Chad and David.

Lee dedicated much of her life to nurturing young minds as a respected junior high English teacher. She taught for many years at Southwest Junior High in Forest Lake where her passion for teaching shone brightly. In her spare time, Lee could be seen knitting afghan blankets, needlepoint stitching, and spending time outside on Lake Johanna. Lee's greatest role was that of a cherished wife, mother, and Nana, endearing her to all who knew her. Her absence will be deeply felt.

Lee is preceded in death by her parents, Ann and Richard.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jeff; her children, Chad (Lisa), and David (Lee); grandchildren, Corynne (Adam), Ethan, Ian, Sean, Connor; a great-grandchild, Wesley; along with her sisters, Wynne (John) and Rae (Dick).

A funeral service honoring Lee’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at 10 am at New Life Lutheran Church (180 County Rd F, Shoreview, MN 55126), preceded by visitation at 9am. Following the service, a luncheon will be served. A private interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Humane Society.
