Journal entry by Brent Cameron

We wanted to celebrate our Christmas first and then let everyone know, but Leah is now out of the hospital. She was discharged yesterday. We had a wonderful day today having our belated Christmas.

Leah is doing well, but still has a long process to go through. She can only eat small portions at a time and we have to make sure she continues to eat throughout the day. It’s a fine line, don’t eat too much at one time or your body will reject it, but eat enough to get the calories your body needs. To compensate the lack of calories we are having her drink plenty of fluids with electrolytes.

She gets tired very quickly and gets pretty sore if she overdoes it. Each day gets better, we just have to take it slow. So far everything looks good. She has a follow up appointment coming up and we will know more at that time, but things are healing up well and the seal has not leaked.

We are not out of the woods yet, but things are progressing well. We continue to ask for prayers that the seal will not leak and for the strength and endurance that Leah will need through the healing process.
