Journal entry by Lauren FitzPatrick —
Merry Christmas from our house to yours! We only got to see Abby and Allen from a distance (Abby’s not feeling well); Seth started feeling crappy yesterday and Aunt Jill was a bit under the weather too. But, our gratitude is strong- as Kevin said… it’s hard not to be on cloud 9 when we’re so blessed with improved health! I’ve been home a week and everyday becomes more and more our new “normal.” I’m seeing so many changes … it’s like I lost so much ground in the years leading up to transplant that I didn’t realize what I was missing. It’s the little things- going to the store; cooking dinner; walking up and down the stairs… it’s by no means “easy” yet but I’m getting stronger by the day! Today after breakfast we went out and went for a walk- it was glorious.
My donors family and loved ones continue to be brought to mind and heart as they struggle through the holidays without their loved one, and I pray for our family and friends who are struggling today with health, and sadness. My heart hurts with you. My prayer is that each of you found an abundance of JOY in the moments today and that we’re all able to recognize and savor those moments every day. It’s all that really matters! Love you all! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!
