Newest Update

Journal entry by tracy burge

Well it has been awhile since I have posted an update so here goes. So I am still walking with the walker and continue to go to physical therapy 3 times a week. Therapy is helping but its going slow. Still no feeling in Frank other than nerve pain. I now have a brace to wear to keep from tripping since Frank has drop foot. My balance is really off probably because I don’t have the feeling in Frank at all and the bottom of June. I walk really slow and get worn out pretty quickly but it is progress.  I got these leg massage things from my parents for Christmas that are awesome. They have a circulation mode and can run it with or without heat which is nice since heat makes swelling worse. Since I started walking the swelling isn’t as bad. I have been staying at my house for a bit and I think that the kids like that I am home except when I ask them to help me straighten up the house. It kind of looked like a bomb went off in the house and I have now gotten it to an organized mess with lots of help from the kids. I only have one working stair lift now the older model stopped working Kevin and Austin have messed with it but can’t figure out why it is not charging or moving. With the help of the railing and the wall I can get up and down the lower staircase. On Christmas Eve I think I about gave the entire house a heart attack. I went downstairs at my parents and practiced with the crutches on the tile floor. Went back upstairs and was going to show everyone but it backfired. I got the crutch stuck on the carpet and lost my balance for a second but recovered and was told I need to stick with the walker. The reactions of everyone I thought was kind of funny but I don’t think anyone else saw the humor. I have been banned from using the crutches. I still have good and bad days but just trying to keep distracted with laundry (washing all the towels from the garage) and trying to figure out how to organize everything. I have learned how to be a supervisor because I usually am just a let me do it myself type of person. Although with the kids I have to be a micromanager since their timeframe and my timeframe are never the same.

Thank you to everyone that has helped me and my family. I am truly blessed to have such an awesome tribe. I do read all of the comments that are left and if you have my number you can text, call or reach me through messenger.

Love Y’all
