Laura’s Story

Site created on February 16, 2017

On Dec 29, 2016 my world turned upside down. Through a series of events, and after many tests and scans, my family and I discovered that I have metastatic breast cancer. We're about to embark on quite a journey.

Journal entry by Laura Garcia-Peralto

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here! Unfortunately I’m waking up to quite a bit of pain this morning and it’s all related to my cancer, so here I am.
Certain areas of my body hurt 24/7. Thank goodness the pain level stays at a “2” or “3” most of the time. I love the mornings that I wake up and I have no pain. 😊😊 They’re very rare, but they do occur. I’ve learned to not overdo it on those days! lol. 😝  I’d be like “OMGosh I don’t hurt” and set off to do multiple projects throughout the day!
Then there’s days where I’m waking up and know immediately that it’s extra.
Anyway.
I don’t even really know why I’m writing this. I guess it’s just to remind myself of others who experience chronic pain in their daily lives and I know firsthand and understand how it changes a person. There’s a lot of emotions in pain and your body not being where you want it to be. I know a few people who have it way worse than I do and I guess these are just the days that I feel for them.
I’m going to get on with my day now, and just put one foot in front of the other! It’s what we do, right? 👍🏼
Be kind to others! 🌺☀️
Happy Sunday!
