Journal

A little over a week ago (it feels longer somehow!), we had a kid come down with a fever and general sluggishness. We didn't think too much of it until another brother quickly followed suit. We tested and yup- it was Covid19.

After trying to dodge it for a few days, I tested positive too. Thankfully, I was boosted again last fall, and this case has been very mild.

Because of my being in active chemotherapy treatment, Paxlovid was recommended. I finish that regimen today, and counting back to when my very mild symptoms began, I should be "safe" (ie. not contagious anymore) around those in our house who managed to dodge the 'vid.

Today, though, was supposed to be chemo #6 - the last "big" one with the full palate of poisons. 😉 Had my Covid been nastier, my body would have needed recover time. Luckily, that doesn't seem necessary. But alas, my body needs time for Paxlovid to leave it first as it doesn't play nicely with chemotherapy. As I understand it (and correct me if I'm wrong), Paxlo can amplify other medicines in the body, and chemo (already intense) can be dangerous if amplified.

Chemo 6 was squaring up for Easter Monday and my birthday (what a gift), but they offered to let me delay it an extra week so I wouldn't be in a chemo coma for the whole of my children's spring break. Part of mr wanted to find a way to power through and just get 'er done, but thankfully, my ego shut up and I thought about the reality of treatment. Ooh yeah, that would be beyond messy and impossible.

Today I am thankful for
- that flexibility in scheduling and that I'll just have "normal low energy" for my spring breaking kids,
- that no one in our house got too sick from the 'vid,
- and that #6 will happen AND be behind me before too long.
