hello everyone!  It's been a long time since my last post.  Things have slow but steady with mom's recovery.  She's been at Tivoli Nursing home awhile now.  She was doing great on her therapies and has made HUGE STRIDES with her recovery.  Unfortunately, the health insurance cut off her coverage.  So her therapy sessions have ended FOR NOW.  We had submitted her applications for Medicaid (Badger Care) and for disability.  Mom has been doing great with being independent in the nursing home.  She's able to walk from her chair to the bathroom, around the home, and is doing so well.  She's still right sight sluggish/paralyzed, but there's always room for improvement.  

I just got off the phone with the social worker at Tivoli and, as of today, mom has been APPROVED FOR MEDICAID!!  Not only that but it's being backdated to August 1!  This is GREAT GREAT news as the coverage is for all medical expenses.  Which mean - MOM GETS TO GO HOME!!!  We don't have a date yet, because there's still some details to be worked out.  But this means transportation to appointments, expenses from her surgery, hospital, rehab, etc.  are ALL COVERED!  The biggest reason mom hasn't gotten to go home yet is because there needed to be some finances in place to cover in-home care.  With this approval, we will be able to secure that.  mom will have assistance for up to 20 hours of support with tasks around the house (personal care, house work, etc.).  THIS IS GREAT GREAT NEWS!  

I want to thank EVERYONE for their prayers, their time visiting mom, keeping in your hearts, and keeping us going.  it's been difficult over the last few months and I know she couldn't have done it without all the love and support from you all.  I know I would have been a complete mess without you all behind me to be there for her.  Thank you.  There's still more to be done, details to arrange, and we are holding out for her to be approved for disability so we can make sure she has a solid income for paying bills, and sustaining a quality lifestyle, but we will continue to move in the right direction!!
