Hello friends and family,

I hope everyone is having a nice holiday season! Our family celebrated last week, and Pat & I headed south the next day. We're in Destin for a while, then Key Largo. We have lots of guests coming to Destin this year, which is fantastic. Our big trip in 2024 is the Scottish Highlands in the spring with our Newark friends/family. We have a private driver and everything is planned for us. We are looking forward to it, "Slàinte Mhath"!

Just a quick year-end health update. Recently, I had my first colonoscopy since the cancer diagnosis last January, and all was well--yay! Docs now have me on a 6-month surveillance plan for 2024, as opposed to quarterly, which is great news. It's getting easier now, too, with experience.

We completed most of the genetics testing, and you may recall that our sons had a 50/50 chance of getting my DNA with the Lynch Syndrome defect. Unfortunately, Connor has the defect and will now need to start his surveillance, which we are hoping is only every 3 years. The good news is that his youth is a definite advantage, particularly since my specific defect tends to affect folks closer to my age on average, and it has a lower incidence of cancer than the other potential Lynch defects. This means that Connor will be ahead of the curve, resulting in early detection if it ever occurs. Dillon and Mom do not have Lynch Syndrome, so it came from my paternal side.

That's all for now. Wishing you all a wonderful New Year's and a happy, healthy 2024!

Love, Laura
