Larry’s Story

Site created on March 31, 2020

Thank you for stopping by to offer a word of encouragement for Larry and his family. On March 25, Larry tested positive for COVID-19 and pneumonia. He is currently hospitalized at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. As you can imagine this is an incredibly difficult time for his wife, Diane, and their two live-in grandchildren who are not allowed to visit him because they are also under quarantine due to their virus exposure. At this time, there are no visitors allowed for Larry so the family gets daily updates from the medical staff. Please check the posts to find out the latest information on Larry's condition. The family would also appreciate your thoughts and prayers for Larry's recovery. Please give us a quick story or comment to brighten the Potter's day.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Diane Mitchell-Potter

As we know things can always change so we thought we had our last update on this site at the end of the month but here's another one!  Larry said to me this morning that he really wanted to share a video in honor of Nurses Week - a group of people who have become so special in all they did for him and continue to do for others.

It's also another opportunity for us to say "thanks" for your prayers and awesome acts of kindness to our family - keep praying for Larry's outstanding recovery and the tiny hiccup which he talks about in his video.  I came across a verse this morning in Proverbs 12:25 that was meaningful in focusing our attention not on worry but how we can focus on others.  "An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up".  Our focus today is giving back to those who have been so kind to us.

Happy Cinco de Mayo to all our friends and family!  On a normal year we would be enjoying this day in Cancun but today we are enjoying each other at home looking at our Cancun photos!  This year it doesn't seem near as important where we are - it's just important that we are together wherever that may be!
