Larry G. Seidl, MD, 83, former chief of staff at the Denver VA Medical Center and professor of medicine at the University of Colorado, died quietly at his home early Friday morning following a stroke. Present at his death were his sons – Larry Seidl, Jr., and Thomas Seidl, both of Denver – and his daughters, Annie Seidl of Syracuse, Amy Seidl of Burlington, Vermont and Kate Seidl of Baltimore, as well as his cherished wife of 57 years, Lorraine (McDougall) Seidl.

Born in Milwaukee, WI, Dr. Seidl graduated from Western Reserve University in 1957, and then Harvard Medical School in 1961, whereupon he dedicated his life to the practice and teaching of medicine. After retiring from the VA, Dr. Seidl worked for 8 years as an attending physician at Denver Health.

He was a lifelong birdwatcher, prodigious reader, keen naturalist, music afficionado and was possessed of an encyclopedic memory. Above all, his marriage with Lorraine was considered by many as an examplar of longevity, camaraderie and affection.

A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church at 8th and Elm in Denver. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the church's St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Denver Catholic Worker Soup Kitchen.
