Larry’s Story

Site created on December 23, 2023

In Spring of 2023 Larry was diagnosed with Large B Cell Diffuse Lymphoma. He completed chemotherapy in July and is in the process of starting stem cell transplant at Mayo. We will be using the CaringBridge website to keep family and friends updated on his progress. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Jodie Peterson

Larry is home! We are happy to report that his vitals have been stable and is "counts" are increasing daily. The stem cell transplant team felt comfortable releasing Larry from the hospital to continue his healing in Watertown.

Larry (and Cheryl) are excited to be home after being down in Rochester for the past month. His primary goal is to rest and stay healthy. Knowing my dad this might prove to be a challenge, but I am sure Cheryl will make sure he is takes it easy :)

Please excuse me while I get sappy for a moment because my family and I could not have survived this without the support we received from our "village." We had so many people step up in various ways and the gestures, prayers, words of encouragement and support we received did not go unnoticed by our family. We are so thankful and truly blessed to have such amazing people in our lives. I also want to say thank you to the staff at Mayo who took care of my dad. He had some very rough days in the hospital and his team of doctors and nurses were wonderful.

To paraphrase The Beatles: "It's been a long, cold, lonely winter, but here comes the sun and I say. It's alright." We are hopeful that Larry will continue to heal and get stronger each day. I know we are looking forward to much better days ahead. Perhaps he can even get his fishing boat out on the water this summer to catch some walleye!
