Our dad was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer February 4th. We ask that everyone continues to pray for him and the family as we handle this news and get through all of the obstacles that are standing in the way!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Deanna Spann

Update on dad... We have received the PET scan results. It wasn’t what we wanted to hear by no means... the cancer has spread more. As of right now they want to get the spot on his spine under pain control so they are hoping to start radiation on it next week! He has a fractured vertebrae from his bones weakening due to the cancer.. He also has a broken rib on his right side by his lung due to the tumors pressing in them... The brain and spine are the main concern right now. They will do 10 rounds of radiation on the brain and 10 rounds of radiation on the spine as well at the same time so they don’t have to make 2 trips a week! This will not cure the cancer by no means but will help it from causing more problems per what the DR says. We believe that God is bigger and can definitely heal our dad!!  As for the biopsy they will have to take from the bone now instead of his lung due to his lung collapsing possibly. They are still planning on doing that Friday. The DRs keep telling us that stage 4 lung cancer is not curable and that there really is nothing they can do but to keep him comfortable and to zap some spots with radiation so they don’t cause more problems or grow bigger... with that being said we would still like all the prayers we can get as we know our God is bigger than cancer!! He has shown our family many times what he can do and I’m sure he is up there smiling now waiting to show us what else he will do for us!!
