Journal entry by Alix Otwell

Today marks one month since our sister Lara passed.   At times her passing seems so surreal, like we are stuck in a bad dream that we can’t wake up from,  and at other times it feels too real that we struggle to breathe.  Sometimes the sadness of losing her overwhelms us but usually it is the good that we see in people that brings us to the most heartfelt tears…The good in our family and our friends who have been so supportive and have shown unconditional love during this emotional journey…The good in the unsung heroes at VNA Hospice House who still continue to provide comfort and support to our family and others…The good in our respective communities that have pulled together to honor our sister it different ways…The good in everyone who have prayed endlessly for our sister and our family…The good in even the littlest of humans (our students) who bring us comfort and joy even while we are hurting inside.   We miss Lara.  We miss her every second of every day. She was one of the good ones.   We are all so thankful for everyone who has shown us the good that life has to offer this past month.  I don’t think we could have gotten through it all without you.
