Journal entry by Beth Landis Hester —
Alexander, Leo, and Loucie started school this week! They had an excellent first day, reconnecting with friends and settling into 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade. The boys are wearing their back braces while at school, but they are now mostly brace-free at home, and we hope their recovery will be complete within a few weeks. Alexander is determined to participate in cross-country, even if at a little slower pace than last year...We will see, but they are on track to return to full activity at some point this semester.
Lee is still at home, taking it slow with his foot but feeling a little better each day. He is eager to be walking again and hopes to return to work at the Fire Departmentsoon. Baty is back at work part-time, in New Orleans at Silence Is Violence on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and in Baton Rouge with the Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra Tuesday and Thursday.
Thank you once more to Sarah Douglas for managing the Meal Train, and to everyone who has helped with much-needed sustenance and support this summer! We are so happy to be back in our school routine and grateful each day for the blessings of health, home, family, and friends.
