Journal entry by Cheryl Rill

Can't believe it's been 1 week since we've been home from the hospital. We've had a busy week with getting back to work fulltime and Trent having soccer tryouts and practice 3 nights. I'm glad it's Friday!

Lance has been settling in at home and we are all getting used to our new routine. I do the blood thinner shots in the morning, Darrin does the evening shot and together we both change his continuous IV antibiotics 1 time a day (around 6pm). Lance has been a trooper through this all. He's getting used to carrying his IV bag around and maneuvering and sleeping with it. Just getting home has helped his mental health tremendously (actually all of us!).

Today we came back to clinic for chemo. This is the last treatment of this phase (delayed Intensification). Today's chemo was a long one. We got to clinic at 9:00 and should be able to leave around 4:00.

His levels were good, but this chemo does usually drop his counts and stays in his system for 3 weeks. He also gets Benadryl and zofran as pre-meds so he's usually pretty sleepy.

WBC ⬆️ 5.3
HEMOGLOBIN ⬇️ 9.8
PLATELETS ⬇️ 229
NEUTROPHIL ⬆️ 2400

He comes back next week just for a count check and won't get more chemo until the next phase (interim maintenance II) which should start on 5/17.

While he was in the hospital, he got to select $150 worth of products to purchase from Little Wishes. He decided on 2 new pair of hey dudes  since his old ones have multiple holes in them. They came in and he was able to get them all today. They did a cute video of him jumping from the old shoes into both of the new pair of shoes to send to little wishes as a thank you. When they send me the video, I'll post it if I can. Little wishes like this make a huge difference. It's something to look forward to and we are super grateful.
