Lacey and Ben’s Story

Site created on March 23, 2022

I want to start off by letting everyone know that baby Hurley and I are doing great. We are in wonderful hands and have been very spoiled by the amazing staff here at Mercy Hospital.

As many of you know we have had a little bit of a complicated pregnancy up to this point with some bleeding and growth scares. Monday morning around 11 am at 24 weeks my water fully broke. I was not feeling bad or having any labor pains at this time so Vancy took me to the hospital and Ben met us there. They immediately started all intervention to help with baby’s development and safety (Steroids, antibiotics) It was huge that we had made it to 24 weeks because a lot of the things we were able to do cannot be done before that 24 week mark.

Around 2 pm constant contractions started about 3 min apart so we were put on Magnesium to hopefully stop of slow contractions and to help prevent brain bleeding and protect his brain once he arrives. We were told that the chances of having the baby within the first 24 hours were fairly high and that this would be our first goal. The magnesium worked exactly like it was suppose to and we were able to fully stop contractions.

Our long term goal is to be here 10 weeks (34 weeks gestation) but every day is a huge step! Each week and day our odds get better and we couldn’t ask for anything better than what we are seeing right now.

Yesterday was a very good day as we reached our first goal and got past 24 hours. I felt very good all day and have continued to today. Our second goal was 48 hours and we past that this morning at 11 and were so happy to lengthen our next one to 7 days (next Monday the 28th).

We also got the best news of all today that the baby looks very good and that mom is also doing so well that I was granted walking privileges which means I get to see my girls this afternoon and I couldn’t be happier. Missing them has been the toughest part of all.

We appreciate everyone’s love, support, and prayers and we could not ask for a better support system. Many of you have reached out and asked how you can help and if you could send meals to me and Ben or to the girls. Right now we are truly doing very well but we know in the next few weeks this will be much appreciated as we start to learn our new norm. Vancy said she will set up a meal train but we want to hold off for just a bit. The biggest way you can help us right now is just loving on Graysan and Eversyn a little extra when you see them.

I will have lots of time hopefully to keep everyone updated and there is a lot of things that we will be learning in the next few days, so this is going to be my best way to keep it all straight and get it out to everyone as accurately as possible.

Thank you all so much from the bottom of our hearts. We have been blessed with a village of love.

XOXO

Good afternoon,

There has been a little confusion with the Caring Bridge website. If you make a donation to the website, your donation will go towards Caring Bridge, not to the Hurley family.

The Hurley Family is currently not taking donations at the moment.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and prayed for the Hurley family. Your support and love is appreciated.
