Journal

I started college classes this week at UNK after a busy summer.  I had appointments with my oncologist, my orthopedic surgeon, and my lymphedema surgeon. I had a good chest CT with no change in the multiple nodules in my lungs.  This good news was bittersweet as now I am "graduating" from Children's Hospital.  I will follow-up with a Primary Care doc rather than an oncologist, which hopefully I will never need again. The hardware in my left thigh and knee is still holding up well, and I don't have to see my orthopedic surgeon for another year.  My lymphedema surgeon would like to operate on my arm again sometime in the next year. Oops, just realized I didn't post that I had surgery on my left arm in December 2020 to try to redirect the lymph fluid (which accumulates in my left arm as the cancer had spread to my lymph nodes) into my veins.  That surgery has been helpful, but I still get severe infections in my left arm not infrequently.  The plan is to sometime in the future do a lymph node transplant from my abdomen to my arm.  I worked two jobs this summer before heading back to school.  I should wrap up my student teaching in the spring semester and then start teaching high school science where the good Lord leads.

Thanks for all of your support and prayers through the years.  I likely won't be posting again unless there is a status change in my health.  This is Kyle Anderson, cancer survivor, signing off......
