Journal

Hello -

I received bad/upsetting news at my oncologist appointment last week.

The disease has progressed, which means the current treatment isn’t working.

I had a PET Scan a couple of weeks ago and it shows two spots that did not show up on previous scans. I will be stopping current treatment (oral drug) and re-starting infusion chemo. A different infusion drug than the past chemo drugs.

I’m hoping this will not take as big of a toll as the last rounds of infusion. But the known side-effects are similar.

I will be starting this Thursday. Truthfully, I’m dreading it.

I was hoping to stay on the other drug longer; but it just isn't working as it did a few months ago. I thought I would not agree to infusion chemo again. It just took so much of my quality of life from me. But when faced with this being the best option at the moment, I’m taking it.

New drug -

Trodelvy - sacituzumab govitecan (SG)

The most common side effects caused by Trodelvy are:

low white blood cell counts

anemia

nausea

diarrhea

fatigue

vomiting

hair loss

constipation

rash

decreased appetite

kidney problems

One of the serious side effects of Trodelvy is neutropenia, abnormally low levels of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell. People with neutropenia have a much higher risk of getting serious infections.

I’m already at a higher risk of infection because I had my spleen out with my last surgery (filled with cancer as well).

I’m hoping this next course of treatment brings me back to stable.
