Newest Update

Journal entry by kristi takens

Hey All! Sorry I haven’t updated in awhile. School is back in full swing so that means I’m crazy busy.  I’m excited to say that my very last radiation treatment is on Monday,  September 18th! 🎉

Radiation was harder than I thought it would be. The time commitment of going back and forth for treatment 5 days a week, the burns, sores, peeling, nausea, lightheadedness, some hair loss, and fatigue with insomnia was not fun. They say you continue to “cook” for a week or two after radiation ends so I’m hopeful I’ll be feeling back to “normal” soon. Yay!

I see my medical oncologist on September 25th so should find out what happens next. I know they plan on putting me on hormone blockers for at least the next 5 years because my cancer feeds off estrogen and progesterone. I’m hoping for very limited if any side effects while on it. Many people who take it have a number of side effects and some people discontinue it for that reason.

I started this site as a way to keep family, friends, and colleagues in the loop. I’m hoping that from here on out things go okay 🙏🍀and I’ll have no need to write any updates on here.

Thanks for being a part of my journey! Cancer truly does suck in so many ways. 🥂to finding a cure to it and so many other horrible illnesses!
