Cancer Crazy Hair Challenge!
CANCER SUCKS! And we want to make it suck a little bit less for the Riley family. TEAM UP with us as we raise money to help cover medical expenses for our big sister, Kristi! God has given her/us this mountain to show others it can be moved!

Kristi was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma stage II. It could not have come at a worse time! She just completed her audiology degree during the COVID pandemic, unable to work, and now she will be set back further in her career as she begins her 6 month lymphoma battle. She has two children with special needs and college debt looming in the shadows. As strong and resilient as she is, we do not want her to walk this alone! Even with insurance, deductibles and co-pays can bankrupt an already struggling family. So, we sisters are rallying around her as she faces cancer and the many experiences that are unique to cancer treatment.
How you might ask? We each set a benchmark to do something “crazy” with our hair:

$2,500 –Justin (Kristi’s husband) will shave his head
$5,000 – Andrew (Katie’s husband) shaves his beard like Fu Manchu
$7,000 – Our mom cuts her hair short
$10,000 – Kari cuts her hair short (and you can help her pick!)
$15,000 – Katie cuts her hair into a “fro-hawk” (after standing up in a wedding on 8/8)
$20,000 – Kellie cuts her hair short

If you know the Mosbacher girls, you know we LOVE our hair, but Kristi should not have to go through this process alone. So, wanna see us do the crazy hair challenge? Please DONATE! Share this with your friends! All monies donated will go towards Kristi’s medical expenses. Anything leftover, will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (lls.org)

I will update this post as we REACH OUR CRAZY HAIR GOALS! In addition, check back here to see updates on totals!

Please route all donations to Katie’s Venmo account – Katie-Schwab-5 and in the description specify: “For Kristi” or “Cancer Sucks!” or “Lymphoma’s a Loser” … get creative!

Note:
Why did we choose Venmo?
- No fees associated with transferring funds - this way Katie can real time transfer the funds to Kristi and family as the bills come in instead of waiting to transfer a lump sum.
- I will be able to keep a tally of totals coming in to make sure you get to see us do crazy things to our hair ASAP.
- If you don’t have a Venmo and would prefer to donate a check directly to Kristi’s family, please private message Katie so she can add it to the total and get you her address!

We love you Kristi!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Katie Schwab

Hey Friends!

I think it's time for an update.

Kristi has gone through her first round of chemo. After about day 3 she started to feel the effects. Feeling run down, tired and weak. That's the reality of this situation...even though she is staying so positive through it all, it's so hard to find the energy to get up and play with 2 small kids, or assist with household chores or go to work. And then on top of that, worrying about a compromised immune system during a world wide pandemic is taking it's toll. A day or two before chemo started she got her diploma in the mail and it's still up in the air what her work situation is going to be through all of this.

Your donations are allowing her to stay home and give her body time to heal, so that when she starts to recoup in between rounds of chemo she can slowly start to enjoy the daily tasks again. We can't thank you enough for all of your support for her. She's feeling the love!

Her Facebook status from 6/28/20: "You guys are all amazing. I can't believe the amount of support and love I have received. I've even made new friend sand acquaintances who have been through similar situations who are willing to just drop everything and support me and pray for me. I had a pretty low day yesterday. but it ended with a phone call from a brainy molecular cellular biologist cancer researcher, a card from a pastor I only just met, and a campfire with new friends. My life sounds like a novel!"

From my family to you and yours - THANK YOU. Thank you for lifting up my big sister in prayer. Thank you for sending such generous donations and support and well wishes. We are forever grateful.

-Katie (sister 3/5)
