Journal entry by Caressa Rodè —
Hi all-
Tomorrow will be one year since my mom’s stroke and boy oh boy what a year it was…
My mom remains strong (and stubborn) as she has demonstrated nothing less than inspiring perseverance with her sense of humor, spirit, and positive outlook. She continues outpatient OT at Mercy hospital and is involved in virtual group therapy with other aphasia patients. My mom and grandma (and all 3 cats) still reside at my mom’s home in Coon Rapids, as my grandma has been the primary caretaker since her stroke. My mom’s vocabulary is still a dozen words or so and walking/stairs remain difficult. However, she can recall song lyrics and kick butt in card games like no other. We are thankful to all that have shown love and support throughout my mom’s recovery. She is a fighter and a true superhero.
Thank you.
-Caressa
