Journal

It’s been awhile since there has been an update. I’ll get to the point: Kristi is still in slow rejection but she is doing well. She said that she likens it to an air tank with a slow leak. By the end of the day, she’s tired but does try and keep busy throughout the morning and mid day. She even tried her hand at Shuffleboard!
Back in December, I surprised Kristi, Mom and Lyedell by showing up at their homes in AZ. Our family friend, Dan, who lives in the same park was gracious enough to pick me up at the airport and deliver me to Sunhaven Park. It was quite fun to shock them all. Lyedell didn’t think I saw but his eyes swelled up with tears… of joy, of course.  😁 Since I was there, I went to Kristi’s doctor appointment with her. I must admit that it was quite a somber day. We all so badly want to hear that the rejection has stopped yet are very thankful that it’s slow. The treatment she took earlier did not help.  I cannot say enough about the compassion shown by all the doctors. It really has to be hard on them when they can’t walk in with great news and see everyone overjoyed.
Kristi just had another appointment this week and her pulmonary function tests (PFT’s) had slightly diminished some more. She will go back in 5 weeks. The bright spot in her week is that her good friends, Brenda and Annette, are on their way down to visit her and have some bonding time over puzzles!  If you hear cackling from the clubhouse, it’s those three!
To address the elephant in the room, no, there won’t be a 3rd transplant. People have been asking and I’m sure others are wondering, which is totally natural, so I just wanted to get it out there.
Her friend, Norma, has also been visiting from Canada. She was Kristi’s neighbor and I think they were both going through withdrawal so it was nice she could be in AZ for a visit.
Kristi is planning to be home this summer. She and my daughter have plans for…. Drum roll please…. A rummage sale. Imagine that. I think I’ll use the ploy Dad used on us. When we were in Jr. High, Kristi and I asked Dad if we could have a boy/girl party (don’t judge!) in the garage. He told us we could but we had to clean it first. We scrubbed that thing down from top to bottom and there was not one cobweb to be found. The light bulb got changed to blue, the disco ball was out, and the 45’s were spinning! I think now how Dad must have sat in the house laughing. But I also think it will be nice to have Kristi and Megan cleaning my garage.
Thanks for all the well wishes and words of encouragement for Kristi. She has so many people in her corner and it truly does not go ununnoticed. Keep praying for this rejection to stop rearing its ugly head!
