Newest Update

Journal entry by Kristi Delahoyde

Just a quick update since the last post.  I did finish radiation on April 10th!  Too bad the side effects of radiation didn't end on that day as well.  I do have some major burns and open sores from it but I am able to cope with the help of burn cream. They did tell me the worse will be up to 10 days after radiation and after that, I can expect things to start healing.

I did have a full hysterectomy on April 11th.  The reason behind this was to remove the ovaries and reduce the estrogen in my body since my cancer thrives on estrogen. I am a little over a week post-op and doing really well.  I still tire pretty easily and tender (especially if the dogs jump on me or move/lift anything heavy).  I plan to go back to work on May 1st.

As of now, I  am scheduled to see a medical oncologist and start hormone blockers on May 10th. I will have a follow-up with radiation oncology and a post-surgery check-up at the end of May.  After that, sounds like I will be free and clear of the Cancer Care Institute for 3 months!

Thanks again for all your love, support, and prayers!
