Newest Update

Journal entry by lauren lancaster

Well hello everyone!!!

I can’t put into words how it feels to be making this post … but today marks 1 year since Kristen’s accident! What a journey it has been. A year ago today we were told news that we don’t wish upon anyone. Our Kristen has surpassed every odd and statistic about her type of injury! I want to give you all an update and recap of what this year has been filled with!

Since the last post about her cranioplasty surgery and graduating from all of her therapies, Kristen has been a busy busy girl! She has been working insanely hard to get her cognition and brain working like before. She is a big cards player, does plenty of brain activities, family feud watching (one of her favorites) etc. She has worked so hard on her executive functioning, brain development and decision making! Our Kiki is KILLING IT!

Kristen has been working with her personal trainer, Michael, to gain her strength back (she is now stronger than all of us:))
        -      Over Christmas, the family took a vacation to AnnaMaria Island, FL. This was our first vacation and time to regroup and relax. It was also  Kristen’s first flight and it went very smoothly!
In January, Mom, Kristen and I (Lauren) went on a trip to Key, Largo for a little regroup from the journey:)! Had a spa day and special moments together!
Kristen then started working for Mark (dad) again and has done a few events in the last months including: Strawberry Fest, Pate Swap Meet, and LA County Fair
Has visited Dubuque and Chicago to see friends a few times!
She went to the Morgan Wallen concert !!! This was extra special because one of his songs was her therapy and walking song! “Sand in my boots”
Went to Bozeman, Montana to see our cousins!
She has started the process for looking for a job! Wants to possibly move out soon!

This has been a rollercoaster of a journey and we are so lucky and grateful to have you all with us!

I will include pictures of what has been going on!

Thank you all a million times…
Come Holy Spirit 🫶🏼❤️🙏🏼
