Krista’s Story

Site created on July 6, 2022

Hey people! It's me, Krista (kdog, Kritta, Mom, wifey) Let me fill you in on the past couple of months. I have recently been diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer. My symptoms began early 2022 and, much like many Healthcare providers, I shrugged it off. My colonoscopy, CT and PET scan revealed a 6cm rectal mass with positive lymph node involvement. I got my Port and have met with oncology and Radiation Onch. Plan is radiation 5x/week for 6 weeks with the different chemo drugs. Yuck! All of this fun and amazing treatment will start on Monday. I will keep this site up to date and Greg will be filling in the blanks when I'm not feeling up to it.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Krista Graves

So, March marked my 1 year NED (No Evidence of disease). Last scans showed more post radiation crap on the left side of anal canal and multiple stable lung nodules. Nodules are small, too small to biopsy, and could be from years of beating up my lungs or from all the Covid.
Things post-cancer are stable and my post-radiation side effects are as good it's gonna get. Yuck!
Other good things: my new puppy, Floyd. Concert and overnight trip to  DC with Ains. Possible Indigo Girls concert next week and Red Rocks in June. Lots to look forward to and trying to get in as many experiences as I can.
