Almost a year ago our lives were drastically turned inside out. We, especially Charlie, have been struggling to get life back to normal. While still on blood pressure medicine and physical restrictions, Kris-Charlie had another appointment with his Orthopedic surgeon today. After another CT scan and X-ray, we waited for another 3 hours talking about possible outcomes of the results. Kris-Charlie described to me his daily prayers and anticipation (and high hopes to return to wrestling) for best possible outcome. We had a very personal and in-depth conversation about sports, health, and expectations; I can honestly say will be a conversation I will always remember and cherish. The results.......while he still has some blood pressure and kidney issues that are still improving (slowly); He was informed today, short from an unexpected break, he will not need to see orthopedics again and will no longer need additional imaging. It appears the unexpected collarbone break, last fall, was a blessing in disguise, as it stimulated healthy bone growth over the “dead” bone, and now his restrictions are removed. He will be medically cleared to participate in contact sports this fall (August). His smile today was amazing and will be a highlight memory forever. He immediately went to the gym tonight and began lifting in preparation for fall sports.
