Newest Update

Journal entry by Jeremy Kolars

I've been home for nearly 2 weeks now and every day I'm getting stronger and progressing in a positive direction, praise God!  We celebrated the official 16 year anniversary of my first liver transplant on 3/21, and my bi weekly blood tests have shown improvement at every angle each time I go.  Krista and I took some time to surprise my Mankato Cancer Center nurses with some thank you gifts since i won't be needing their help after 3 years of going there every week.  This past Thursday we went to Rochester as a family, since the girls are on spring break, as my doctors wanted me to get a CT scan to check on the blood clot they saw early after transplant, as well as get a clear picture of how the hematoma is coming along.  The CT showed absolutely no evidence of the blood clot which was awesome to hear, and although the hematoma is a little larger than before, there was no sign of internal bleeding, so again great news!  I'm still working on gaining weight and muscle mass back, but that will come with time.

I've been busy lately getting back into the swing of things with driving, and working, which has been an amazing feeling to be able to serve my deserving clients once again.  Getting to work side by side with Andrew again, to laugh and discuss business plans together, after really a few months of being away has been such a rewarding experience.  Being home with Krista and the girls this week while they are off has been a beautiful blessing as well, as we've enjoyed just being together without worrying about packing in the schedule crazy.

As we get ready for Easter tomorrow, we continue to sit in awe of how generous and caring everyone in our community has been through this journey, making our lives easier to manage as we get back to a routine (the meals have been an absolute miracle).  Krista and I have both had the chance to see friends, family, and sometimes even meet strangers who have been following our story face to face to share in genuine appreciation and meaningful conversation.  Humbled just doesn't quite explain the feeling, but we are so grateful.

We wish each and everyone of you a blessed Easter and remember to love each other a little more this year.   Every day is a gift!
