In 1979, I had my 1st hip surgery to address my SCFE (Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis*) and in my case, it was a full dislocation of my right hip. Due to the Flood of 1979, my dislocation was not discovered until about a month past the injury. Dr. Beaumier was my surgeon and he took the three large pins (screws) out a few years later.

It also is my Dad's birthday - Marlowe would have been 83 today. He died much too early from a massive heart-attack in 1988. He is greatly missed and I'm being reflective as we place flowers out at Memorial Cemetery for Memorial Day 2020 tomorrow.

The hope is that on Tuesday, I'll be switched to the oral antibiotics from the IV Infusions. We'll test that for a week and if my labs continue on an improvement path, I'll be done with Infusions. My central line will remain installed until we safely can know it will not be needed. There is a procedure to remove it, will keep you posted on that.

We are still doing wound management but healing is still happening. These things can take time, I'm happy with our progress. I had 39 staples, at least the are all out and the rest of my incision is healing beautifully.

Be safe and enjoy this Memorial Day weekend. Practice appropriate social distancing and wear a mask - the life you save might be that of someone you love.
