Just a quick update on the Infectious Disease doctor visit yesterday:
We had a nice visit with Dr. Comer.  I was supposed to see Dr. Snider but she had to cancel so Dr. Comer got the "pleasure" of trying to solve this puzzle.  Poor guy.  He's a great doctor but I'm a weird patient.  He is very familiar with the fungal infection that could possibly be the culprit in this mysterious illness.  Another "Fingerprint of God" (that's what my husband called it) showed up with this doctor:  this infection is endemic to the Mississippi River Region but very rare here.  Guess where he went to medical school ...  Memphis!!!  Which just happens to be right along the Mississippi River!  So neat!  He'd seen a lot of this fungal infection when he was there. :)

We had a good conversation with him.  He was really kind and took lots of time with us but, unfortunately, the whole "vibe" of the meeting was "I can't say for sure."  🤷🏻‍♂️   Unfortunately, there wasn't a definitive answer to what I have or why I have what I MIGHT have.   It definitely isn't his fault.  The only test that has shown any possible answer was the fungal infection but he said sometimes that test is a "false positive".  My symptoms match other illnesses too.  Sooo , they took more blood and did another test to try to confirm the fungal infection possibility but it will likely be next week before we know anything from those.  At this point, his recommendation was to try an antifungal medication for about 2 months and then do another CT scan to see if lymph nodes look normal.  If they do, we'll assume it was the infection.  If they don't, we'll seek the next possible diagnosis ... maybe sarcoidosis??? Hey that rhymes!  "Diagnosis...Sarcoidosis."  Maybe I'll write a song. Like the one my sweet sister-in-law texted me about after the fungal antibody first showed up.  She said that all she could think was "There Was a Fungus Among Us!"  Did you know that was a song???  https://youtu.be/gtjc5c9pt9Q   Hilarious.  😂

So whether or not there indeed is a fungus among us remains to be seen!!!  Thankful the Lord knows and is seeking to teach me so much while I wait on answers.
Thanks so much for continuing to pray! Please pray for a definitive diagnosis, continued healing, a good response to the medication, patience and peace while I wait, and for God to be glorified in all of this!  Much love and many thanks!!!  God bless you all!!!  I'm praying for you!!!
