After an almost 2.5 year batter with lung cancer, our beloved Hung passed away on October 3, 2019.
Hung was born in Saigon, the eldest of five children, where his early life was influenced by war. In 1990 Hung married Kim Le, herself an Amerasian, which gave them the opportunity to immigrate to the United States in 1991, first arriving in Utica, New York. The cold weather in New York state inspired Hung and Kim to come to Atlanta the next year. The early days in Atlanta established the pattern of hard work that both Hung and Kim have never given up. Even after their son Anh Bao was born in 1994, both Hung and Kim worked long hours at their new business, with their son quietly playing or studying right along with them. With continued hard work and continuous study, Hung became a massage therapist and, along with Kim, who had also become an esthetician, became the owner of Kim’s Day Spa in 2005. Their family was made complete in 2009 when daughter RoseMarie was born.
Friends and clients of Mr. Hung knew him as a hard worker who never liked to be sitting when he could be doing something constructive. If he wasn’t with a client, he was chauffeuring the children around, cleaning, re-arranging the spa furniture, or working on making something better. Even as he fought cancer, he spent time re-painting the spa and installing new lighting.
He was devoted to his family, always wanting the best for his children, keeping them close as they grew and including them in everything. His family feeling also extended to his parents and siblings; he was never so happy as when they could all get together for a holiday or a visit.
During his illness his true strength of character was demonstrated. He fought hard, with his sense of humor intact, doing what he had always done: loving his family, working hard, and being a caring fiend to all.
