Journal entry by Ashley Gilbertson —
Just a little update: Mom and Dad arrived home Wednesday evening from Rochester and things seem to be going well so far. My mother's cancer is called Invasive Lobular Carcinoma and is Stage Four. As I stated before, my mother's cancer is hormonally fed, so the removal of her ovaries was a key piece that we hope could happen. With this being completed, her treatment injections every 28 days can cease and her oral daily chemotherapy is set to resume this Tuesday, July 14th, as long as her labs are strong enough and God willing that no infection arises from her surgery. My mom spoke with her oncologist Thursday morning and he is pleased with how well she is both tolerating treatment and the fact that there is no new cancer growth with minimal decrease in her PET, CT, and Bone scans. The scans and testing will continue every two months and she couldn't be happier with the care at both Mayo Clinic Health Systems locally and in Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. My mom is determined to fight this every step of the way and to never give up. She feels God's love along with the prayers, compassion, and support of so very many people and she is so greatful. She sends her love and virtual hugs. God is so very good!!! Thank you for the love and support not just for my mom, but also for my family.
Love,
Ashley
