Kim’s Story

Site created on September 6, 2020

Thank you for visiting my CaringBridge website. I am using it to keep family and friends updated in lieu of trying to keep up with individual texts and emails and so I can read your responses when I'm in a place I can do that. I appreciate your prayers, support, and words of hope and encouragement. I have read the CaringBridge sites for many eloquent writers but if you know me, I'm sure your expectations are reasonable in that regard. I invite you to read these journal entries with the understanding that in addition to keeping you informed, the other purpose is to help me process what is happening. I'm not a journal keeper by nature so I guess we'll learn together how much I'm really going to use this to process vs post the medical info vs write a stream of consciousness.

Journal entry by Kim Brown

Hi friends,

It's so strange that I haven't had anything to write for the past 6 months. No news is great news in my case.

This morning I had a CT scan and this afternoon I saw the results on my health app which looked fantastic. There is still no sign of cancer. I'll visit my oncologist next week for the first time in 6 months. I would guess I'm not going to need another scan for 6 months again.

If we don't see one another in person regularly, you might wonder about my hair regrowth. It began to grow back around Valentines Day 2021 (around a month after I finished chemo testaments). It's crazy curly and super easy to wash, scrunch, and requires a headband to keep it out of my eyes. If it's not scrunched tight, it falls onto my shoulders and is a touch longer than my wig. Even when it's wild and unruly, I still smile and tell it that I don't care because I'm just happy it's back 😀

You have all been such an incredible blessing while I was fighting this battle. I am grateful for your love, support, and prayers. Have a wonderful summer.

❤️ Kim
