Kimberly’s Story

Site created on October 10, 2018

Some of you may know that I've had problems with endometriosis. This April I had to have surgery and they had to remove my left Fallopian tube. Since Jamie and I had talked about having kids, we decided to see a Fertility doctor because now IVF was our only option. Without boring anyone with the details of that procedure, I'll move on to the recent discovery. I had to have a couple of ultrasounds done before I could start IVF and my doctor saw what he thought may have been tissue by my ovary. We scheduled for an MRI September 17th, 2018. I got the results back that afternoon and even though I did not have a mass or any tissue, they discovered that all my lymph nodes were enlarged. I also have some enlarged lymph nodes under my arms and around my neck. Their concern was lymphoma. Dr. Storment immediately got me an appointment with a surgical oncologist. September 26th, I had a biopsy where Dr. Breaux removed my right lymph node under my armpit.

October 8th was my follow up appointment where I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. But I will not let it slow me down! I will come back from this stronger than ever! I have such an amazing support system with all my family and friends!

Thursday the 11th, Mom and I went to MD Anderson for the MRI for my brain (because of a migraine I had over a month ago) Everything went smoothly and I got the results the next day when we met with the Doctor. Everything looks good. They want me to see an optometrist the next time I go so they can check and make sure there is no swelling on the brain that they can’t see by MRI. Of course we’re not worried because if there was swelling, I think I would have had some more headaches or migraines, but I haven’t had any. But they like to be thorough. I met with the cardiologist before my treatment and he was not worried about my slow heart rate. My first EKG it was in the 60s and this EKG it was 47. But I’m young and active and I don’t have any symptoms. If it gets any slower or if I start having symptoms, we will look into doing something. Right now, we have a check up appointment in 6 months. Mom and I got coffee for this treatment and I watched Ant Man and Wasp and never went to sleep and my heart rate never got below the 50s. Next treatment is scheduled for May 9th!
