Newest Update

Journal entry by Amanda Lambert

Kevin was diagnosed in Aug 2020, with Cholangiocarcinoma, which is bile duct liver cancer.

His current treatment plan consists of 2 chemo drugs, and is administered in a 3 week cycle.

One cycle example:
Week 1- chemo,

Week 2- chemo,

Week 3- off

(Repeat cycle)

The Medical Oncologist is recommending 10-12 of those three week cycles . The doctor will be continuing to monitor his CA-19-9 and using more scans in the future to monitor the cancer.

The hope and plan is to shrink the cancer enough to do surgery or embolize part of the liver. We are also waiting for genetic testing to see if Immunotherapy is an option for him.

Kevin’s weekly chemo day consist of 5-6 hours of IV therapy at each appointment. He can’t have anyone accompany him for any of his appointments or for his chemo treatments. (B/C of Covid)

Right now, he has had his first chemotherapy treatment day and has seemed to tolerate it well. He was very sleepy afterwards. He is wearing his required 7-day anti-nausea patch and that seems to be working. Thankfully!!

Kevin would like me to post updates regularly to decrease the amount of texting and calling we do on a daily basis. Especially as he needs rest in the days after chemo and is continuing to work as much as possible too.

We appreciate all the love and support we have received!

We will update again soon.

Much Love,

Amanda
