Latest Site Updates

Journal

Hello to everyone once again,

Looking back at the last entry it looks like it's been about 5 months since I've updated this site with the ongoing condition with my Dad. For the most part this has been because everything has been going great. We have continued to enjoy the strides he makes within his recovery. The changes may not be as big as the changes he made from the beginning and the end of the ICU days, but both me and Mom notice changes constantly.

With that said, we had a slight bump in the road when Dad had a seizure on August 28th, reminding us that this situation is not over and we can't become complacent when it comes to prayer. That night Mom and Dad were having a quiet night at home after he went to the gym to workout. Mom looked up to find him acting strange and, for lack of better words, seeming to "wince in pain." For those who have witnessed a stroke, I hope my words can depict the situation somewhat. Mom immediately called the paramedics who arrived just after he was blue from lack of oxygen and took him back to Salem Hospital. At this point they reviewed and considered the possibility of some type of vascular malformation and sent him up to OHSU for additional testing.
After performing an angiogram doctors concluded that there were no malformations and he was back on his feet the next day and released. He was prescribed seizure medication and will now be off work until the end of the year when doctors can re-evaluate his status.

Once again, through prayer, Dad has dodged a bullet.

His brain will continue to heal and sometimes I have to remind myself that it's only been 8 months since the accident. All of the doctors at the time reminded us that it may take years to fully heal. I ask that everyone please continue to pray for his recovery, as it will most likely last for many years to come. As a family, we still continue to praise the hundreds of people we know are praying for his recovery and talk about it on a daily basis.

Once again we can't thank you all enough for your prayers and positive thoughts.
