Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support, prayer, and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting!

Kerry had an incurable lung disease called idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Scar tissue built up in his lungs and he had been on oxygen, but it had become so serious that he needed new lungs to survive. The lung transplant center at IU-Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis remarkably approved him for a double lung transplant, and his “listing” began on October 4.

From that date, Kerry and Jule waited for the phone call, which they were told could take several weeks. They stayed with their daughter’s family (Andrea and Jeremy Summers) in Marion, Indiana while they waited. After some “dry runs,”Kerry was called in and transplanted on November 13, and was hospitalized for about three weeks. During that time, Jule stayed with her brother (Bern and Kathy Lytle) in Fishers.

There were some serious bumps in the road, but the new lungs are good, and Kerry was released for rehab on December 5. He and Jule were then invited to stay in Shunem House in Noblesville for a few months, as they are required to report to the hospital more frequently during that time. During the next year of recovery and rehab, they have to stay in Indiana, so after their stay at Shunem they will return to Marion to stay with family.

The journal entries began just before the listing on October 4. We will continue to create new journal entries, with prayer requests, when there are important updates. Thank you all for your prayers!
