Kent’s Story

Site created on November 8, 2019

At the end of April 2019 I was diagnosed with Burkitts lymphoma.   Since that time I have had many treatments including chemotherapy, radiation and CAR-T cells.  Unfortunately, none of these treatments has appeared to be curative at this point.  They definitely have prolonged my life, and the time I've had with family and friends.  At this point I will likely be entering hospice care.

I wanted to start this site as a way to simplify communication and to keep everyone updated, and to be able to hear from any of you who would like to be in communication with me and my family during this time.

I plan to continue enjoying each moment with my family.      Love, Kent

Journal entry by Kris Scherr

The kids and I went to visit Kent's burial place last weekend. It was a beautiful day and just like last time, there were deer prints all around, but no more snow. We made a big heart around his grave and looked for a stone to be engraved for him. So far, we haven't found one we like enough, but we will in time. At some point after the covid-19 crisis passes, we want to have a celebration together to remember Kent. I hope some of you can come. In the mean time, the kids and I are appreciating our time together at home and doing our part to avoid spreading the virus. We celebrated Cam's 20th birthday yesterday. I was remembering throughout the day what a wonderfully loving partner Kent was for me while I was in labor with Cam. He was such a proud Papa. He would be so happy to see the kids are thriving and staying connected.
