Journal

I was able to sneak out of WI for a few days and spend the weekend with Dad.
We spent most of the day Saturday in George. We had breakfast with several of his friends at the bar in George and went for a long drive in his pick up. I wanted to take the Camero out but Dad wouldn’t let me 😝. We then spent several hours at the casino on the way back to Sioux Falls.
On Saturday we spent most of the day just relaxing at Becky’s and enjoying the beautiful weather.
I can tell that Dad is making progress in his recovery since my last visit about 6 weeks ago. He does seem to have some minor memory issues especially when he is tired. He does currently have a catheter to help with his prostate problem while the new medication takes effect. I think this is helping with his sleep since he is not having to get up several times a night. He still isn’t sleeping great but it is better than a few weeks ago.
We were told from day one that recovery would take a year or more and dad is just past the 6 month mark. He is still working on walking more and more. He has pretty much regained all feeling in his left hand and is now working on movement. He has just begun small movements in therapy with his left hand.
While he hasn’t recovered near as quickly as he would like, he is still working at therapy every day. I know he gets irritated especially now that farmers are starting off in the field. He admitted to me it’s hard for him to ask for help and he just wants to hop in the tractor and get to work. We are INCREDIBLY blessed to have a team of people in and around George helping with the farm and working the fields and planting this years crop.
Please keep my Dad in your prayers along with his care team including doctors, therapists and his nurses. Please also keep all of the area farmers and their families in your prayers and pray for a safe and successful planting season!
