Journal

Hi friends and family! Wow, it sure has been a while since we last posted. It's been a pretty standard year in terms of Dad's treatment. He's been doing the full-strength chemo up until the end of February when he and the doctors at MD Anderson decided he could have a three-month break.

Dad and Mom have been keeping busy with dad's daily bike rides and they've had their hands full watching our littlest addition to the Gore family, Harper, during the week up until the beginning of June when she went back to daycare. Harper has brought so much joy, adventures, heart palpitations, daily PopPop and Harper walks, and laughs to both of them. She's little miss sass, full of curiosity and completely a 2-year-old!

Over the last three months, Dad and Mom have had lots of visitors and have loved every second of time with old friends and family that they've been able to see. Dad and Mom were able to cross skiing Big Sky in Montana off their list this year. They went for a week with their dear friends, Jack and Julie Winchester. They were able to ski (sort of), explore the town, and even did a sleigh ride/dinner with live music and goats one night (thanks to Greg & Jamie Williams for the recommendation!). It of course wasn't a Gore trip without some injuries and we received the below photo in our family text group thinking it was a joke- it was not! Mom broke her foot and Dad got to cross an ambulance ride off his list landing him with a dislocated shoulder but they are on the mend.

Dad and Mom headed to MD Anderson this week for new scans to see if he could extend the break. Unfortunately, it wasn't the news we were all hoping for but we are not out of options. Dad had growth in his liver and lung. Dad is going back on the chemo regimen that he was on before, knowing that he can lower the dose if needed for a better quality of life. We are not at the end of this journey and we thank God every day that Dad is still here with us. Time is precious, that's the main takeaway this journey has taught me. My dad is a fighter.  And I love him every second of every day for continuing this fight. Please continue to keep my Dad and Mom in your thoughts and prayers. We love you all and are thankful to have you in our lives. Hug and kiss your loved ones for us.

All our love,

Courtney & the Gore Family
