Newest Update

Journal entry by Lynn Ogden

We wanted to give you an update on Ken's situation. As you know, it's been a little over 6 months since his ampullary cancer diagnosis, and it hasn't been easy. The constant nausea, diarrhea, swollen feet, and neuropathy have taken a toll on him, making everyday life a challenge.

Our recent appointment with the oncologist on Wednesday brought mixed news. We'd hoped the DNA test results would allow for a change in chemo that might offer some relief from these side effects. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case – there aren't currently any other chemo options available.

The bigger conversation centered around whether Ken should continue chemo at all. We're still waiting for the results of his latest blood tests, which will tell us if the treatment has been effective in shrinking the tumor or not. Those results should be in within a few days.

Knowing these results will be crucial in Ken's decision about his next step. He's weighing the potential benefits of chemo against the challenging side effects he's been experiencing.

In the meantime, we're also taking the time to learn more about hospice services. This has been a difficult decision to consider, but it's important to be prepared for all possibilities.

We appreciate your continued love and support during this challenging time. It means the world to us to have such a caring community surrounding us. We'll be sure to send another update once we have the results of Ken's blood tests and a clearer picture of his path forward.
