I was beginning to wonder if the nurse was going to come out this week.  But Chris texted yesterday and asked if he could come today.  Since I don't need anything urgently, I said sure.  I did ask him to bring more irrigation fluid and and the syringe to put it in, and more catheter bags.  I had to flush his catheter again this week and the "new" bag apparently has a leak.  At least it's not a big leak, but a new bag would be nice.    This is the 2nd time I've had to flush the catheter in about a month and nurse Jennifer changed it out for a new one last week.   But the catheter doesn't seem to be stopped up due to sediment or an infection.  Nurse Chris said it may just have been pushing up against his bladder.

While Chris was here, he called the person who recertifies Ken for hospice.  I didn't realize it before, but now he has to be recertified every 60 days.   No problem there, just a formality.

I actually woke Ken up about 10:45 this morning to give him his meds (back to crushing them.  He was swallowing them again for a couple weeks, but last night had problems swallowing them again).  By the time he was done getting his meds, Chris was here.  After Chris left, Ken went right back to sleep.  I did make him breakfast and tried to feed him, but he didn't wake up to eat.  So I'll wait and see if he wants something later.   This is the first time he hasn't woken up enough to eat breakfast.   If he has his eyes open 2 hours a day now, that's a lot.  I don't know how much of the rest of the time he's actually sleeping or just laying there with his eyes closed.

We're also dog sitting for the Hicks kids again.  But this time they warned me that Micky has been having some big breathing problems and even collapsing.  His diaphragm is working extra hard and forceful like there's fluid in his lungs.  Whenever he sees a squirrel or chipmunk (yep, we have more chipmunks) he charges out and goes into a seizure-like state of being catatonic.  They suspect cardio problems.  I didn't realize how bad he was since I hadn't seen him in a month or so.  But he's definitely got problems.  So I'm feeding him hamburger and rice and feeding Ken everything sweet.  Then I prayed that they both made it through the week!  So far so good.  One more day until the Hicks kids are back from Yellowstone.
