When I worked as a newspaper reporter (for 25 years), I used to visit the CaringBridge website periodically to write stories about people in need. Now I'm the one that I'm reporting about -- based on Mayo Clinic evaluations, my kidneys were damaged over two decades by medication ("lithium toxicity"). And while it's not in the official diagnosis, I probably added to the problem by eating too much convenience food. At any rate, at age 59, I'm on dialysis, and eagerly seeking a kidney donation.
